Rupaperas' with the family at a function held for them on their return.

I would appreciate if anyone can name the two other boys. I think they were Horiana's brothers.

The photo was taken by Mrs Chappell the wife of Mr Chappell the then Principal of Rangiawhia Native School. The photo was taken outside the home of Mr Pari Raharuhi at Whatuwhiwhi.

The photo of Horiana and whanau was taken during the week the battalion returned not before th ey left. The other two soldiers are Mu Timoti Hetaraka and Karaitiana Matiu. Mu was in the battalion but Karaitiana was an instructor in the army. He didn't go with the battalion. His brother Raniera Matiu (not in photo) did but returned in 1943. The girl in front of Horiana is his baby sister Rihi. His other sister Uporo is extreme right. The other girls standing are Ruhaina Hetaraka Fred and Matehaere's daughter, Miraka Rupapera Hohepa and Mata's daughter and the one in front of Ruhaina is Pere Miraka's younger sister. The woman at the right end of the adults is Mihi Matiu a first cousin to Horiana.
