Maud Monehu Maraea Yates (nee Moeau) from Rongowhakaata and Te Aitanga a Mahaki.
Maud married William Yates who joined the war effort with the 28th Maori Battalion in 1944. They raised 9 children together - David, Dixie, Orsogna, Maude, William, Sydney, Greta Aroha, Bronwyn and their whangai Lewis.
