Matenga Baker | 28 Māori Battalion

Temporary Sargeant Matenga Baker (aka Sonny Baker), who embarked with the 12th Reinforcements. He died on active service on the 3/4/45.

toni mokomoko barnett...my handsome unkle, i wish i could of met you...too young..we grew up with your photo hanging in a very special place in our whare and every year mum(your sister) would place a poppy in the frame, such a sweet gesture, she was so proud of you......
