Maori Dispatch Riders Always On A Roll..

28 (Maori) Battalion rider B.J. Beazley of Whangarei is caught on camera speeding by transporting communications and various necessary small articles including important medical requirements.

These guys were exceptionally busy fellows during WW2 and have received relatively little recognition for their often very brave efforts in battle within the NZ Division.

Beazley is seen here on his British Matchless 500cc motorcycle very near the 5th Army front in Italy on the 10th February 1944. Of interest to some, it was a motor cycle despatch rider who was the Maori Battalion's first casualty during its WW2 war service for New Zealand.
