Maiki Parkinson

Private Maiki Parkinson (aka Jerome, Jerry. Jules Vern Parkinson), who embarked with the 7th Reinforcements. He was wounded once and invalided home.

Maiki is Te Aitanga-a-Māhaki and was born at Ōpōtiki in July 1924.  He enlisted as a sixteen year old in June 1941 arriving in Egypt on October 1941. Maiki was posted to C Company of the Māori Battalion and saw action on  the Alamein Line in mid-1942.  Before that he was sent to guard the Tura Caves, a British ordnance depot near Cairo.
