Golden wedding celebrants were Mr and Mrs Tawhai R. Tamepo, Opiki Station, Te Puia Springs. They have spent all their married life on the coast. Mr Tamepo returned from the First World War and went on the land. In 1921 he and the former Arihia Maxwell of Torere, Bay of Plenty, were married before the Reverends Pigott and Pine Tamahori at Waipiro Bay. ('Gisborne Photo News' issue No 205 July 14, 1971)
