Days after New Years 1942..boat drills

Days after the beginning of 1942 the fighting end of the NZ Division was placed on a month long series of training on the ship" Glengyle" between Kabrit and the Red Sea,for sea borne training of landings to places unknown. In the weeks that followed they were filled with,in beween dust storms that is,ladder scaling, rowing, embarking and disembarking from assault landing craft, stowage and unloading of supplies, the crossing of wired beaches and before-dawn landings, the only bright spot being rugby games on the 31st of January.

Photo above taken by Capt. Hayward is of this refreshing seaborne training although by some accounts rather monotonous..
