70 years ago this month

For most of June the Battalion are at Arce, north-west of Cassino. CO Lt-Col Young is keeping them occupied and out of mischief. The American’s have occupied Rome. Read the war diary for June 1944 here.

Darcy Nepia and Nolan Raihania

Darcy Nepia and Nolan Raihania catch up at a gathering of the 28 Māori Battalion veterans in Taupō, December 2010.

Darcy is from Manutuke.  He was part of the Eleventh Reinforcements and served with C Company. 

Nolan is from Muriwai.  He served with C Company and was with the Twelfth Reinforcements.
