70 years ago this month

For most of June the Battalion are at Arce, north-west of Cassino. CO Lt-Col Young is keeping them occupied and out of mischief. The American’s have occupied Rome. Read the war diary for June 1944 here.

[Note from website editor - this image shows members of the Māori Battalion's B Company. It was taken at Whakarewarewa, Rotorua, possibly during the troops' final home leave in March 1940 (they embarked in early May).

one name missing between Matangi Whiti and Eddie Morgan, Tamihana Tamehana,Sonny Waretini aka Sonny Sewell who passed away earlier this year was the last one standing they have now all passed on,may they all rest in peace
