Private Bidois shows courage and determination at Cassino

This citation for R.H. Bidois' Military Medal is reproduced from the April 1992 NZ 28 Maori Battalion Reunion booklet:

437433 PRIVATE ROBERT HARVEY BIDOIS, M.M.

In the attack on CASSINO station on the night of 17 February 44, Private Bidois showed courage and determination of a high order. Both during and after consolidating the Coy area was heavily shelled and mortared, yet without thought for his own safety Pte Bidois repeatedly visited platoon areas carrying messages to and from his Coy Commander. On two occasions he went out under heavy machine gun fire to carry wounded back to safety and when his Coy Commander was wounded Pte Bidois was largely instrumental in getting him back. He showed outstanding courage throughout the action.
