Reverend Manuhuia Bennett who was a Battalion chaplain. Manu was one of eighteen children born to Frederick Augustus Bennett. His mother was Arihia Hemana.
He saw service with the Battalion in the Middle East (1944) and served with them in Italy.
After the war he lived and worked in Hawaii, was the vicar at St. Faiths at Ōhinemutu. Following in the footsteps of his father he was consecrated Bishop of Aotearoa. Holding this position from 1968 - 1981. He was made a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (1981) and the Order of New Zealand (1989), for services to his church and country. He was also a member of the Waitangi Tribunal.
His brother Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Charles Bennett was Commanding Officer of the Battalion from 1942-1943.
