Muttonbird barrels, Christmas 1944

Three Māori Battalion soldiers peer over the tops of barrels of preserved muttonbird sent from New Zealand for Christmas dinner, near the Senio River, Italy.

Robert John Dixon is on the left behind the barrel marked 'NZ'; Wiremu Potatutatu Ruru is in the middle and Rodney Pitt on the right. This photograph was taken circa 23 December 1944 by George Kaye.
