In 1945, Rev. M. A Bennett wrote a letter home from Italy to his father, Bishop Bennett.  It was posted in the Waiapu Church Gazette, 1 May 1945, Page 9. He writes:On my way up to the battalion I stopped at Cassino and saw the rubbled remains of that town where such an epochal battle was fought by this battalion. I stood on the spot where Alby was last seen; I also visited the cemetery where so many of our boys who died in and around Cassino are buried, including Glen Rogers, Tene Rickitt and Johnny Graham, over whose graves I stood and held a silent tangi.
