Interested to know if this is the Tommy Lawrence who in the mid1950’s was head baker for Richardson Bakery that operated from premises at the lake end of Tutanekai Street Rotorua between Pukaki and Whakaue Streets.
In those days bread for the Rotorua district was supplied by two bakeries, Richardson and Clarke and residents could buy direct out of the ovens. Very easy to eat a whole loaf with plenty of butter without help from anyone else.
Unfortunatley didn’t take the opportunity at the time to find out more about Tommy and the part he played trying to contain the Africa Corp
