Born in Wellington, 25 Jun 1902.  Son of Theodosia Evelyn Young and Arthur Young.  Prior to the war he was an oil company executive for Shell.

He was CO School of Instruction Feb-Apr 1943 and CO 28 Māori Battalion Dec 1943 - July 1944, Aug - Nov 1944; wounded 26 Dec 1943.
 
He was a company commander with 22 Battalion during the Second Lybian Campaign at the end of 1941.  At Ruweisat Ridge when his Battalion was captured (July 1942) Captain Young was the one man who escaped.

He was awarded a DSO.

Mr. Young was my great-grandfather, and I've grown up hearing stories from the family about his life.

His daughter (my grandmother) still retains a great many of his records, and I'll look forward to including the relevant ones on here.

Currently, I'm very busy with a project, but hope to return in the months ahead to enrich the detail of this profile.
