Kia ora whanau.
It was a privilege to participate in Anzac Day commemorations with Te Taki o Aotahi ( Soutern Cross Performing Arts Group ) here in Kalgoorlie Boulder. Over the last eight years we have represented our country in particular the 28th Maori Battallion, by participating in the dawn service and wreath laying and parades. Only in the last two years has the New Zealand national anthem been included in these celebrations as a direct result of our efforts to honour our forebears. So it was a great personal honour to be able to read the ode in Maori at the Kalgoorlie town hall thinking of the husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, (grand ) uncles, auntiies and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in theatres of war up until recent times. Lest we forget
