Kia ora Te Huni . I remember my grandfather and grandmother visiting you often. We would come to your little home on the flats of Matekerepu. We would sometimes stay till dark and I would drift off to the hiss of the kerosene lamp. When you moved up on to the hill in Kutarere I got to know you personally myself. I remember you having such quick wit, sharp as a tack you were, and always up to make everyone laugh. I remember one story of putting your ears to the ground in Egypt to listen for the direction of movement of the enemy cannons and then changing the direction of yours to counteract. You are sadly missed.
