In The Evening Post on Thursday, 24 May 1945, Hamiora Te Weehi is reported to be safe in the United Kingdom. Click here to view full page. Hamiora's Prisoner of War number is 4162 and with a little bit of investigation I found him in a photograph of NZ POW's in Stalag XVIII-A, Austria. The photograph is in poor condition but gives details of where a better picture can be sourced. Also interesting to note is that the Allied Ex-Prisoners of War Medal can be requested by ex-prisoners of war or their next-of-kin or direct descendants, whose countries were allies of Britain at the time of their capture.  They are to be worn with pride not alongside gallantry decorations, but separately and distinctively.
