70 years ago this month

For most of June the Battalion are at Arce, north-west of Cassino. CO Lt-Col Young is keeping them occupied and out of mischief. The American’s have occupied Rome. Read the war diary for June 1944 here.

Waimanuka (Boycie) Merriman 39103

Merriman Boycie

Boycie Merriman (39103) at a family function in the late 1950's with two nieces, Lucy on his right and Winnie Kusabs. His older brother Leroy was killed at the Battle 42nd Street, Crete on 27 May 1941. Boycie was a radio operator at the battle but did not take part in the actual charge with his B Coy mates.
