January 3rd 2014 two of your great mokos Laney 15 and Giselle 10 went back to the Pa. You know where we mean. The stories I told of you and the family all came partially to life for them. The family photos are hanging in the whare-tupuna, you & mum, Uncle Anzac, uncle Kaye and aunty Milly, - and all the others too numerous to name here and of course, Koro and Kui. Of the thirteen of us, ten travelled back to the Pa - From powhiri to e noho ra - it was a huge success, all leaving with knowledge that strengthens their confidence and identity - you would have been proud of them, even the ngati pakeha ones. The girls eyes registered surprise when they saw your names on the Roll of Honour and the memorials, they learned that you and Mum and others sat, ate and slept at this very place. The very place in the whare tupuna where they stood and slept - They were comfortable. This was home.
