Cleaning Up The Dock Yards Of Tripoli

Arriving at Tripoli was a great respite from jarring desert travel in vehicles.  But once rested the work began, with the Tripoli port and dockyards needing rapid re-organising to allow Allied supply ships to unload huge amounts of supplies from UK and USA. Here is a good photo taken on the 9th of March 1943 of three Maori Battalion soldiers clearing rubble created by Allied Air and Naval assaults upon the Axis forces occupying Tripoli earlier in 1941-42.
