70 years ago this month

For most of June the Battalion are at Arce, north-west of Cassino. CO Lt-Col Young is keeping them occupied and out of mischief. The American’s have occupied Rome. Read the war diary for June 1944 here.

My dear uncle Teaomarama I am so glad I have found your resting place. We attended every Anzac in memory of you we love you.

Who is our uncle, he married my father eldest sister the late M.Puhirere his son the late L.Puhirere .We were all very close to our auntie we were so grateful for her teaching about our uncle Teaomarama we are so happy we have found his resting place thank you for the website it is a great comfort to us the family we will always love him and one day get to visit him.Jane

Since I've found you uncle Teaomarama I can't wait to get online and look at this website. Uncle you had a son his name was Peraniko Leslie Puhirere and my brother was name after him, our cousins Leslie was so big he was our eldest cousins he passed away suddenly my younger brother unveil his headstone and Auntie Ema was so strong on the day we all miss them dearly love you
