My koro, father of my mother Rollaine Hina. Would've loved to have known him alot more, especially learning so much more about the 28 Maori Battalion.

Watching Maori TV, the stories that are being told by those affected by the terrible events of those wars and so many of them were so very young Dad never spoke about the war I remember dad use to have nightmares, and mum would comfort dad. The war had affected dad in so many ways. Could not imagine how nannie Bessie (dads' mum) would have felt, knowing that members of the whanau were heading off to war, never knowing if they were returning or not. I look at my sons' and daughter, at a similar age, and thinking, lets hope we don't have a repeat of another World War. R.I.P Dad Mum
