known as digger king....went all through the war without a scratch it seems...at monte cassino seems he had to take officers to the battle but main road was being bombarded so took his vehicle across the farms to get there...in desert campaign all his mates plus him running for trucks being bombed by rommells army and truck load of mates were blown up in front of him...on patrol germans came over a hill while maoris were crossing a river and shot his mates....thing is could so called tough street kids of today handle digger and others life...theyd be screaming and deserting by the dozens and wouldnt know what to do.
