The father to this soldier (Rana) was not from North Auckland, but was actually from Port Awanui in Ngati Porou territory.  This mistake seems to have come from his enlistment details.  Penetana Wharehinga was born in the Rangitukia distict and originally hails from the small coastal settlement of Tikapa - at the mouth of the Waiapu River.
