Popularly known as "The Major", because he was attached to my father, H.G. Dyer, then Major in command of D Company, he was later his driver in the Desert Campaign and when he was marched out to command the Maadi Base Camp. He was said to imitate to a T the voice and manner of Major Dyer; hence his nickname. Another photo of him is to be found under the entry for Dyer. He returned to New Zealand about the same time as Dyer.
