Ponaute Bon Busby passed away in Auckland in 1999 and is laid to rest at Rangihaukaha Urupa, Pukepoto.

Ponaute Busby was captured at Sphakia on 1/6/1941, and processed in Kreta VI with POW number 5443. In October/November 1941 he was at a POW camp in Tymbakion, Crete, where he was doing forced labour, with around 200 other men. Here he signed a pair of shorts, that were brought back from the war. He would have been shipped off Crete ~ 4th January 1942.
