Tahae's brother Ihaia Trainor served with the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The New Zealand Herald reported on 19 September 1944 that W/O Trainor was missing on air operations. On 27 October 1945 the newspaper reported that he was presumed to have been killed in action. See more here.
