About Me:
My grandfather Phillip, we called our Koro, Toto. Toto what happen to you in the war days ? I would not even think to consider what my Toto, had endured. I just was keen to be able to connect with him the way a grand daughter should connect with his grand daughter, I thought. He showed me the courage he had back then proud to be here to re-tell his side to some-one like me. It was horrible he said, think of many hills covered with bodies of dead men. As far as the eye could see, well he had me running over every detail in my young head. I could handle it, the thoughts I mean that's when my Toto, yell in a rough vioce Bomb....!! bomb, he capturing the full excitement, of that day, it had to be so powerful. I could see image for me to visualise the magnitude of the tanks, the firing of missiles over his head. Then as he ran up hill to gain grounds towards the enermy his legs are not moving anywhere in a hurry. Why as he looks downs he's tramping over his comrades, he left from one hole to the next and now... his tighs are covered in blood. And smelling of rottening flesh, my Toto said its just part and parcel of every day fighting in Egypt. My Toto got shot throught his stomach, as the shrarptional cut through his left arm making it useless to fight anymore. My Toto, is lucky to be alive at that piont to later have his Nephew Sir Peter Tapsell operate on him when he got back to New Zealand. God bless all the many souls fighting for Peace and honour in humanisning.
