70 years ago this month

For most of June the Battalion are at Arce, north-west of Cassino. CO Lt-Col Young is keeping them occupied and out of mischief. The American’s have occupied Rome. Read the war diary for June 1944 here.

Roll Names of Rotorua Soldiers Onboard The "Monarch"

Part of the rolls of 2NZEF soldiers onboard "The Monarch" (Dominion Monarch) returning home, with many from the 28th (Maori) Battalion. These above being some of the men who were from Rotorua, or had enlisted their. These name lists at the rear of the souvenir booklet included Australian Divisional personnel heading for Fremantle and also a small number of civilians.
