My name is Tamaterangi ANDREW. I am currently serving in the Army, New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF, Te Ope Kaatua o Aotearoa). I have served in the NZ Army for 29 years this November. I will have served 30 years November 2015. I am currently employed as the NZDF Maori Cultural Advisor to the Chief of Defence Force (CDF). I am fortunate, in a sense, that my appointment allows me to be involved with military ceremonial activities which involve cemmorations of the Maori Pioneer Battalion and the 28 Maori Battalion. Currently we have a group in Gallipoli and another group about to depart for Cassino. This is one of the reasons I enjoy my current appointment.
