Edgar Butt was my father’s uncle having married his mother’s (Lucy Dansey) younger sister Victoria Caroline Dansey. Edgar’s brothers in law Roger, Harry and George all served in the Pioneer Battalion.
In later life Edgar was the licencee of the Taneatua Hotel which on his retirement was taken over by his son Ted Butt.
Edgar and Victoria had four children Lucy, Delamare, Rama and Ted

i should also have mentioned that Edgar was a half brother to Bishop Frederick Bennett hence our dubious connection to that family
