Discharged: 8 October 1917
James was evacuated from France in May due to being unwell. He was diagnosed with tuberculosis and returned to NZ. He never recovered and died the following winter from a combination of influenza and TB. He is buried at St Gabriel's Churchyard, Pawarenga.
