This film continues coverage of the ceremony held at Ruatōria on 6 October 1943 to mark the investiture of 2nd Lieutenant Te Moananui-a-Kiwa Ngārimu's Victoria Cross. More than 7000 people attended the event.

The VC was awarded posthumously as Ngārimu was killed in action at Tebaga Gap in Tunisia on 26 March 1943. The film shows his parents, Hamuera and Maraea, receiving the decoration from the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall. Hamuera Ngārimu then thanks those assembled.

Decorations were also awarded to other members of the Battalion who were present, including former commanding officers Lieutenant-Colonels Charles Bennett and Fred Baker, Lt-Col George Bertrand (then commanding the Māori Training Unit), Warrant Officer Martin McRae, Major Rangi Royal, Captain William Poata (aka Ben Porter) and Lieutenant J.P. (Tony) Tikao Barrett.
