Maori Battalion Carriers..Resting

Unique and interesting photo of Captain Ted Hayward along side a battalion carrier and crew resting somewhere in i would assume from terrain in north west Libya or Tunisia 1943. Candidly revealing nicely positioned and  sheltered tents behind the men,and what appears to be slit trenches or a dug out bunker to the fore ,indicating the constant concern of air attack.German fighters could appear in seconds with devistating effect and similarly the notorious screaming and accurate aerial artillery weapon, the diving Stuka bomber was always a worry, which necessitated individual vehicle dispersion and if possible reasonable camouflage while resting to avoid collective damage from air attack during the day and around full moons at night.
