Jack (Haki) Hau (aka Howe) son of Wiremu Pahi and Pipikoneke Hau from Rawhiti. Hongi served with D Company and embarked with the 5th Reinforcements.
Haki's brothers' Wi and Hongi and a number of cousins also served with the Māori Battalion. Altogether 13 members of this family served in the war.
