Ascending Takrouna

Descendants of 28th Maori Battalion men visit to Djebel Takrouna in May 2014.

These photos show the northern side of Takrouna, where the Battalion made their approach.
The photo top left shows the cliff scaled by Rogers, Manahi and their small platoon of men. Note also the size of the cactus (bottom right), they were laced with barbed wire and box mines during the attack on Takrouna 19-23 April 1943.
