This National Film Unit Weekly Review film shows the return of the Māori Battalion to Wellington on 23 January 1946. With the formal ceremonies complete, the men of the Battalion file into wharf sheds for a hākari (feast), accompanied by more entertainment.

The film crew then follows returning soldiers to a small marae at Ōhau, Horowhenua, where a memorial is unveiled to a local Māori soldier, Jack Seymour, who was killed in action in Libya on 14 December 1941, while serving with the 7th Anti-Tank Regiment, NZ Artillery. The welcome home ceremony at Ngāruawāhia is also shown (clip 3 of 3).
